KeyTV Network, the digital platform launched by actress Keke Palmer (Nope) in early November 2022, has just added to its diverse TV show lineup.
On Thursday (March 23), the network premieres its first Latine-led series, Connected. Executive produced by Keke Palmer and written and directed by Adrienne Durazo, the series tells the story of two young, Latina women, Karmen (Anna Barraza) and Ali (Suzanna Akins), who set off on a quest for self-discovery.
“Through their different upbringings and Mexican American and immigrant experiences respectively, they find connection as the show explores female friendship, intersectionality, and Chicana identity, set against the backdrop of Los Angeles,” an official synopsis reads.
“We are thrilled to debut Connected on KeyTV Network, where inclusive stories like these will always have a space, because spotlighting diverse voices like [creator] Adrienne and this cast, in front of and behind the camera, is so vital,” Palmer said in a statement. “Connected is a powerful addition to our programming slate that speaks to the specific experiences of our characters, but also delivers a relatable story of two young women who are figuring out that the ‘perfect life’ doesn’t really exist. We can’t wait for viewers to tune in and experience the journey of Karmen and Ali.”
The first episode for Connected starts with Karmen and Ali chilling at the park and watching someone shoot selfies for their Instagram. From there, the adventures of Karmen and Ali take off as we witness the duo maneuver their way through the highs and lows of their own social media.
Whatever Karmen and Ali have in store for us for the rest of the series, we’re ready for the ride.
