In the midst of the political turmoil that has dominated the news cycle in Mexico for the last several months, the nation took time to remember a man that made generations all over Latin America laugh: Roberto Gómez Bolaños (aka Chespirito). The beloved comedian, actor, director and screenwriter passed away on Friday at 85 years old, and tributes to him flooded the internet. Perhaps nothing was more striking than Chespirito’s November 30th memorial at el Estadio Azteca, where an estimated 40,000 people  – many dressed up as some of his most iconic characters – gathered to celebrate his life.
