It’s finally happening: Colman Domingo is hosting Saturday Night Live! On March 26, SNL revealed that Domingo will make his debut as the host of the popular sketch comedy series on April 11. Brazilian superstar Anitta will make her debut as the featured musical guest.
Domingo is preparing for an epic spring. Ahead of the release of his role as Joe Jackson in the highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic Michael (out on April 24), the Afro-Latino actor is taking on the hosting role on SNL. Domingo has never hosted SNL before, but with Latine talent on board like Marcello Hernández, we hope he highlights his Latine roots during his sketches, which will surely have his crowd going.
Though Domingo is busy promoting his upcoming Jackson film, he also has other major projects on the way. He will also portray Ali Muhammed in the upcoming third season of Euphoria (returning on April 12), as well as Danny in the second season of The Four Seasons, premiering on May 28.
On the other hand, Anitta is also going to be a part of the upcoming SNL episode. Anitta, known for her hits like “Downtown,” “Gata Only (Remix),” and “Evolver,” will bring her country’s flavor to the mix. It is unclear if she will join in on any sketches, but it would be interesting to see her mingle with the cast.
Currently, she’s promoting her newest single, “Pinterest,” so she will more than likely perform the rhythmic song. “Pinterest” is from her upcoming album Equilibrium.
SNL airs live via NBC on Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. EST.
