The season one finale of Drag Race México is finally here!

Cristian Peralta, Gala Varo, Matraka, and Regina Voce gave it their all in a bid to become “Mexico’s Next Drag Superstar.” And after an epic lip-sync battle, co-hosts Valentina and Lolita Banana announced the winner of the show.

The episode opened with Valentina reciting “Las Golondrinas” for the four finalists. The Mexican standard is usually sung for a person who is leaving the nest.

When Valentina entered the Werk Room with Lolita Banana, she repeated her entrance line from season nine of RuPaul’s Drag Race: “Hello! It’s me, Valentina!” That was followed by Mexican pop icon Thalía sending a sweet video message congratulating the queens. She also revealed that the final challenge would be a lip-sync to her cover of the LGBTQ+ anthem “A Quién Le Importa.”

Before going into dance rehearsals for the “A Quién Le Importa” lip-sync, Cristian Peralta, Gala Varo, Matraka, and Regina Voce had heartfelt chats with the hosts about their Drag Race journeys. Valentina and Lolita Banana let each queen know that they made them proud.

Over on the main stage, both hosts joked about this episode being their first time participating in a finale. The finalists then put on a grand performance of “A Quién Le Importa.” They were later joined by the whole cast of queens when they hit the stage one last time.

The runway theme this week was Best Drag and each queen delivered in that category. Cristian Peralta and Regina Voce both wore extravagant wedding dresses. Matraka appeared afterward in a fashion-forward look inspired by Mayan codices. Then, Gala Varo hit the runway in a futuristic red gown. The eliminated queens showed off their best looks as well.

All four finalists then moved on to the final lip-sync. Each queen gave an emotional performance of “Él Me Mintió” by Amanda Miguel, but Cristian Peralta really embodied the heartbreaking song. She ripped away her wedding dress piece by piece and then revealed a second wig on her head. As if that wasn’t enough, Cristian Peralta also pulled out a pair of scissors to chop up her wig.

Then came the moment that we’ve all been waiting for the winner’s reveal. Valentina and Lolita Banana announced that Cristian Peralta won the first season of Drag Race México. While wearing her new crown, she shouted out Guadalajara and Mexico.

Congrats to Cristian Peralta and the rest of the cast on a fun and fierce first season!
