The La Más Draga franchise celebrated the iconic looks of Guillermo del Toro films this week on April 15th. And the Mexican director was delighted to see one drag queen on the Solo Las Más spin-off pay homage to him in a special way.

Back in 2022, La Más Draga first did a tribute to the work of del Toro during the fifth season. Some standout out looks that night included Huma Kyle and Gretha White re-imagining the Faun and the Pale Man from Pan’s Labyrinth through drag. For the first all stars spin-off of La Más Draga called Solo Las Más, the show brought back the runway theme of La Más del Toro.

While many of the drag queens on Solo Las Más recreated looks from del Toro’s films, one contestant took the theme literally and dressed up like him. Madison Basrey hit the runway with a hood covering her face. She then pulled back the hood to reveal her fierce impersonation of del Toro. The moment went viral online and eventually caught del Toro’s attention. On X, he applauded Basrey’s transformation by writing, “Que suave.”

The night included many more iconic drag interpretations of del Toro’s movie characters. C-Pher recreated a gorgeous Día de los Muertos look from The Book Of Life

Rudy Reyes put a glamorous spin on Death from del Toro’s version of Pinocchio

Gvajardo also devoured the runway with a monster look from the movie Pacific Rim. And these only scratch the surface of the amazing runway looks this week.

Despite her incredible transformation into Guillermo del Toro, Madison Basrey came in second place in the challenge this week. The judges decide to give the win to Soro Nasty. Conversely, Velvetine and C-Pher landed in the bottom two spots. The two queens lip-synced to “Déjame Vivir” by Juan Gabriel and Rocío Dúrcal. C-Pher was then eliminated from the competition.

New episodes of La Más Draga: Solo Las Más stream on the franchise’s YouTube channel on Tuesday nights.
