Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) has been announced as one of the guest judges for season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

On Monday (December 19), Guillén’s name was listed alongside other celebrities like singer Ariana Grande, comedian Ali Wong, and actresses Amandla Stenberg, Julia Garner, Janelle Monáe, Maren Morris, Megan Stalter, Orville Peck, and Hayley Kiyoko.

“Surprise!!! Xmas came early!!” Guillén wrote on social media. “Tnx mama Ru.”

According to Deadline, 16 contestants will compete for $200,000 and this season’s title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” The cash prize for the show is the highest in the history of the main franchise.

A week ago, Guillén’s celebrity guest appearance on the drag series, The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula, aired on Shudder.

In a recent interview with Page Six, Guillén discussed how he was told that being Latine, queer, and plus-sized were considered “three strikes” against him in Hollywood.

“I was told, ‘That’s not good, that’s not welcome, Hollywood doesn’t like that,’” he said. “And for a little bit, you start believing it and then [you tell yourself], ‘No, this is who I am. I’m great in the body I’m in and [great with] my sexuality and my culture, and I’m proud of it.’”

In season 4 of What We Do in the Shadows this year, Guillén’s character, Guillermo de la Cruz, officially came out. The next big project for Guillén is his role in the DC Comics superhero movie Blue Beetle, which hits theaters this upcoming summer.

The premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 airs on January 6, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET on MTV.
