Sometimes, awards season comes and goes, and we barely have anyone from our communities to celebrate. It won’t be so in 2026. The Golden Globes nominees have kicked off the major awards season. And as we look at the list of who could win an award, there are quite a few Latine actors to spotlight. Especially in the big categories.

For movies, Tessa Thompson made history by becoming the first Afro-latina to be nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Actress category for Hedda. She’s not the only one making history, as Wagner Moura became the first Brazilian man to be nominated in the Best Actor for Kleber Mendonça Filho’s film The Secret Agent. And he’s not alone in his category, as Oscar Isaac is also nominated for Frankenstein.

Then there’s Benicio del Toro, who was nominated for Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for One Battle After Another. Guillermo del Toro was nominated for Best Director for Frankenstein. Frankenstein was also nominated for Best Movie in the drama category, while The Secret Agent was nominated in the Best Motion Picture – Non English Language category.

And if that’s already more than we usually get, we still have to look at the TV categories, where there are once again some names from our communities. Like Diego Luna, who was nominated for the second season of Andor in the Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Drama category.

Then there’s Selena Gomez, who was nominated for Only Murders in the Building in the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Jenna Ortega was also nominated for Wednesday in the same category as Gomez.

The 2026 Golden Globes (83rd Annual) will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, and are set to air live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
