Things are about to heat up for Ice Spice. The Bronx-born rapper will be a guest on the popular YouTube talk show, Hot Ones, on Thursday (March 28).
If you’ve never seen the series, Hot Ones, hosted by Sean Evans, puts celebrities in the hot seat for an interview that includes answering questions while eating a lineup of chicken wings – each one spicier than the last.
Earlier this month, Ice Spice, who is of Dominican descent on her mother’s side, confirmed that she “finished recording Y2K,” the first album of her career. Will Hot Ones be the platform she uses to announce a release date and tracklist?
This past January, Ice Spice was an honoree for the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards, alongside fellow musicians like Luisa Sonza, Young Miko, and Kylie Minogue. Last year, she was nominated for four Grammy Awards: Best New Artist, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Karma” with Taylor Swift), Best Rap Song (“Barbie World” with Nicki Minaj and Aqua), and Best Song Written for Visual Media.
Ice Spice will be the first Latine celebrity to appear on the 23rd season of Hot Ones. The last Latine to appear was Carmelo Anthony last November. During his appearance, he discussed how he was almost part of the Marvel Universe.
Other Latine guests in the last few seasons have included Cardi B, Anitta and Pedro Pascal. The most impressive appearance, however, is still by Jenna Ortega, who didn’t even flinch once while devouring her spicy wings.
