And Just Like That Season 3 premieres May 29th, and one of the main questions people have about every season is who will be starring in it and what familiar faces from the past could show up. Sex and the City stars Sarah Jessica Parker will return as Carrie Bradshaw, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes, and Kristin Davis as Charlotte York. But who else will be returning for Season 3? And in particular, will we be seeing Sara Ramírez and their character Che Diaz again?

The answer to that is no.

By the end of Season 2, Ramírez’s Che Diaz and Miranda Hobbs (Nixon) had split for good, with both moving on to other jobs and other relationships. Deadline confirmed last year that meant Che’s story had concluded, and Ramírez would not be returning for Season 3 of the show. There was no confirmation on whether the character could make guest appearances in the future though.

Writing out Che Diaz, who proved to be a very controversial character and was criticized for being a caricature of a nonbinary queer person during their time on the show, was billed as a storytelling decision. However, the Daily Mail also reported last year that Ramírez was being let go due to pro-Palestine social media posts, in a move some compared to Melissa Barrera’s firing from the Scream franchise. There has been no confirmation of this report from the studios.

Sara Ramírez starred in And Just Like That… for two seasons as Che, a nonbinary stand-up comic, writer, and podcast producer. They worked with Carrie as she transitioned from a newspaper columnist to a sex advice podcaster, and struck up a friendship with the show’s lead. Through them, they met Miranda, with whom they eventually had an affair that caused Miranda’s divorce from her husband, Steve.
