Jessica Alba will star in the upcoming psychological thriller series Confessions On the 7:45, which is based on the international bestseller by Lisa Unger.

According to Deadline, Unger’s novel will be adapted into a Netflix series by Charise Castro Smith, who co-wrote and co-directed Disney’s Oscar-winning animated film Encanto. Smith will also serve as the showrunner and co-executive producer alongside Alba, Michael Rotenberg, and Oly Obst.

In the series, Alba will play a working mom whose life is turned upside down when she meets a stranger on a train. Alba said she was captivated by Unger’s book as soon as she opened it.

“I could not put this book down,” Alba told Deadline. “The moment I read the line, ‘If you want to keep a secret you must first hide it from yourself,’ I was hooked. This book is about trying to bury secrets and the shame we carry until the truth exposes us. I can’t think of a more exciting person to partner with on this project. Charise is so ridiculously talented and truly gets every nuance under the skin of these characters and their web of lies.”

Confessions On the 7:45 will be the second Netflix project that Alba is starring in and executive producing. In the upcoming film Trigger Warning, Alba will play an active-duty member of the Special Forces who learns about the men who killed her grandfather after taking ownership of his bar.

Jessica Alba was last seen on the now-canceled Spectrum drama series L.A.’s Finest alongside actress Gabrielle Union. Along with acting, she is an author and the founder of The Honest Company, a retail company that produces baby products.
