The last elimination before the season finale of La Casa de Los Famosos México was the most shocking. Last night (Sept. 28), a fan favorite with big support across social media was voted out of the house.

Since July 27, the 15 housemates on the third season of La Casa de Los Famosos México had dwindled down to seven contestants. The surprise elimination of Ninel Conde, who was the most famous person in the house, last month showed that no one was safe.

After the cast divided up into two separate teams, one group dominated the competition over the other. Team Noche, which included Alexis Ayala, Aldo de Nigris, Mar Contreras, Aaron Mercury, and Abel “Abelito” Saenz, knocked out Team Dia’s members week after week. Dalilah Polanco and Clemente “Shiky” Rodríguez were the last remaining members of Team Día.

In the final elimination before the upcoming season finale, it was assumed that Team Noche would pick off one of the two members left of Team Día. Contreras, Abelito, Ayala, de Nigris, and Polanco were revealed as finalists. It came down to the vote of the Mexican public to determine if Mercury or Shiky would take the last finalist spot.

Among the cast, Mercury, who is an influencer, has the largest social media following with over 5.7 million followers on Instagram and 19.3 million followers on TikTok. He was mostly known before as the ex of reggaeton mexa star Yeri Mua, but in his 64 days on the show, Mercury became a fan favorite, especially for his bromance with de Nigris.

In an upset for Mercury fans, he became the ninth person eliminated from the house and Shiky moved onto the finals. This week, the Mexican public will vote for the winner among the six finalists. On Sunday night, the winner will be revealed during the season finale.

La Casa de Los Famosos airs daily on Las Estrellas in Mexico.
