Love is Blind Season 9 is here, and though the first few seasons of the show have given us plenty in the way of Latine representation, just like Season 8, Season 9 looks to be very thin in that regard.

The iconic Netflix reality show, which has already given us three different Latin American versions (Love is Blind: Brazil, Love is Blind: Mexico, and Love is Blind: Argentina), has just released the first six episodes of Season 9.

For those who are, somehow, still unfamiliar with the format, the show follows a group of singles who have agreed to date each other without ever seeing each other. These people then have to decide at the end of ten days if they are willing to commit to marriage to one person without knowing what the other person looks like. If they do, they can then meet, and then they have four weeks together to figure out if love is really blind and if they want to end the show married or part ways for good.

Previous Latine contestants include Monica from Season 8, Marissa and Nick from Season 7, Amy from Season 6, Izzy and Lydia from Season 5, Jackie from Season 4, Nancy from Season 3, Mallory and Salvador from Season 2, and Giannina from Season 1.

So, who is the Latina in Season 8 of Love is Blind, which takes place in Denver, Colorado? Ali.

Ali, who is 29, is a nurse and was born in Brazil. A first-generation immigrant, she is proud to have learned English and built a life in the US.

According to Tudum, Ali says, “I’m looking for a leader, somebody that inspires me to be a better person and somebody that I can do the same for.” And she’s definitely not looking to put her career on hold for her partner.  “If I do find a partner here, they’ll have to be OK with me being in school and being extremely busy for a couple years.”
