You might know him for his scene-stealing role as Rio in the NBC drama Good Girls or his current recurring roles in FX’s Mayans M.C or HBO’s Westworld, but Manny Montana is now heading to the MCU. Deadline reported Montana would join the cast as a series regular opposite Dominique Thorne in the upcoming Disney+ show. No details about his character have been made available as of yet.

The secrecy comes as no surprise, as Marvel likes to keep their cards close to the chest regarding MCU projects. But we do know that Ironheart, which is now filming, will star Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor and the creator of the most advanced suit of armor the Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen since Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit.

Anthony Ramos is also set to star in the series, with Lyric Ross also believed to have a role. Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes are set to direct, with Ryan Coogler, Chinaka Hodge, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian serving as executive producers alongside Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, and Zoie Nagelhout.

Previous success aside, this role represents an ample opportunity for this actor. Though Ironheart is set to stream on Disney+, the MCU is structured so that all Disney+ series and movies are connected. And if the show is successful, moving to the big screen isn’t out of the question. Riri Williams is also set to take up the mantle of Iron Man in the MCU and will almost certainly be a member of the Young Avengers, so anyone involved in her story has a good chance at a long-term role.

Hopefully, this is just the first of many appearances for Montana in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ironheart is coming to Disney+ in 2023.
