The laughs will continue for Marcello Hernández, even outside of SNL. The Cuban-Dominican comedian is set to debut his own stand-up special on Netflix with American Boy. The special will premiere early in 2026, on January 7th.
Hernández announced the news on Instagram, with a caption that read “MY FIRST NETFLIX SPECIAL. I started comedy at 18 in Cleveland, Ohio at dive bars, small clubs, and poetry slam rooms. 10 years later, stand up has given me everything. If you’ve ever been to a show, put me on a show, given me advice, or supported me in any way, THANK YOU. AMERICAN BOY JAN 7TH ON @netflix 🇺🇸👦🏻”
American Boy was filmed in front of Hernández’s hometown crowd in Miami, Florida. Netflix’s description of the special reads, “Marcello Hernández: American Boy marks his first ever stand-up special after his rise to fame on Saturday Night Live. In front of a hometown crowd in Miami, Marcello shares laugh-out-loud experiences of growing up as a first-generation American.”
Hernández has become a household name thanks to Saturday Night Live, where he has been a cast member since the show’s 48th season in 2022. Before that, Hernández became internet famous for his social media videos, like his weekly review show (Only in Dade) about his home of Miami.
The special was directed by Nicholaus Goossen and executive-produced by Marcello Hernández and Matthew Vaughan.
