Co-creator and executive producer Elgin James announced that the Sons of Anarchy spin-off series, which debuted in 2018, would get a fifth season during the San Diego Comic-Con last summer. Now, FX Networks Chairman John Landgraf revealed the news that the fifth season would be its final season on Thursday (January 12) during a press tour for the Television Critics Association.

Season 4 spoiler alert ahead. During season 4, fans were shocked to see the character Coco (Richard Cabral) get killed off the series. The drama between the motorcycle gangs intensified as EZ (J.D. Pardo) took the mantle of his club. Fans hope that season 5 will finally bring the characters of Mayans M.C. and Sons of Anarchy together for a big battle.

Some Latine cast members confirmed to return for the final season are Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Danny Pino, Carla Baratta, Emilio Rivera, Edward James Olmos, Frankie Loyal, Vincent Vargas, and Joseph Raymond Lucero.

Last year, Olmos talked to Remezcla about working on a TV series with his son for the first time. Michael D. Olmos directed an episode of season 4. He said about his character Felipe: He “tries very hard to be a good person, but his past catches up to him, and it gets very difficult to handle.”

During an interview with Remezcla early last year for the third season, Cardenas, who plays Angel Reyes, said his “skin would crawl” in the past when he heard a revving motorcycle. Now, he loves it. “I’d be like, ‘Oh, that’s so obnoxious!’ But now, that sound is like music to my ears. Once you become immersed in this culture, it’s hard not to fall in love with it.”

Mayans M.C. Season 5 doesn’t have an official premiere date yet, but it is presumed to be sometime this year.
