Netflix Debuts First Full Look at Oscar Isaac in Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 04: Oscar Issac attends "The Sign In Sidney Brustein's Window" Gala performance celebration at Virgin Hotels New York City on May 4, 2023 in New York City.
Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is coming, and we now know exactly what Oscar Isaac will look like. The film stars Isaac as Victor Frankenstein, Mia Goth as Elizabeth, and Jacob Elordi as “The Monster.” Del Toro wrote and directed. The movie will be released by Netflix in November 2025.
In the first full look of Isaac as Victor Frankenstein, the brilliant and egotistical scientist who brings to life a monstrous creature that ultimately dooms them both, Isaac is seen with curly, longer hair, a white, rather puffy shirt alongside blue pants and a blue vest. He seems to be in the middle of a presentation of some sort, as there are faces in the background and he’s holding something in his hand.

The movie is based on Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein, and it’s a project Guillermo del Toro has been wanting to make for 50 years. “Over the decades, the character has fused with my soul in a way that it has become an autobiography. It doesn’t get more personal than this,” the director said in a video message.
He’d previously discussed how, after watching the 1931 film Frankenstein, starring Boris Karloff, he became fascinated with the character. “This monster crossing the threshold, this anomaly seemed to embody everything that I thought was ‘wrong’ with me, in a beautiful way,” Del Toro said. “It was like a patron saint being discovered for me.”

Frankenstein also stars Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz.
The movie is not the only upcoming project for Oscar Isaac on Netflix. He is also set to star in the second season of BEEF, the anthology series from Lee Sung Jin, alongside Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny. He will also star alongside Kristen Stewart in the vampire thriller Flesh of the Gods and alongside Jason Momoa and Gerard Butler in the crime thriller In the Hand of Dante.
