Gina Torres, Eugenio Derbez & More To Be Honored by NHMC at 2023 Impact Awards

Latine celebrities like actress Gina Torres (9-1-1: Lone Star), actor Eugenio Derbez (CODA), and filmmaker Ángel Manuel Soto (Blue Beetle) will be honored at this year’s Impact Awards Gala hosted by the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC).

The gala, which will take place on October 27 at 6 p.m. PST at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, celebrates Latines making a difference in their communities and encourages positive Latine representation and diversity in the media industry.

Other honorees this year include Chef Aarón Sánchez, actor Jharrel Jerome (When They See Us), philanthropist Jessica Sarowitz, and founder & CEO of Rizos Curls, Julissa Prado.

“I am so honored to celebrate this year’s honorees for their dedication and contributions to shaping an inclusive and diverse world,” said Brenda Victoria Castillo, President & CEO of the NHMC. “NHMC’s mission this year is that Latinos are the rule, not the exception, and these honorees truly embody that – occupying any and all spaces to ensure our voice as a community is being heard. Together I hope we can stand united to continue empowering and uplifting our community and advocating for equitable opportunities.”

The awards for the evening are as follows: Aarón Sánchez (Master Creator Impact Award); Ángel Manuel Soto (Outstanding Film Director Impact Award); Eugenio Derbez (Social Impact Award); Gina Torres (Our Voice Impact Award); Jharrel Jerome (Next Generation Impact Award); Jessica Sarowitz (Visionary Impact Award); and Julissa Prado (For the People Impact Award).

Co-hosted by actress Francia Raisa (How I Met Your Father) and sports reporter MJ Acosta-Ruiz, the 2023 awards will include appearances by U.S. Representative Joaquin Castro (D-TX), producer and writer Gloria Calderón Kellett (One Day at a Time), actor Harvey Guillén (Blue Beetle) and producer Yvett Merino (Encanto).
