Pedro Pascal Makes His Debut as Reed Richards in Trailer For ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’

Marvel
Marvel’s first family is coming. The Fantastic Four: First Steps has debuted its first look at not just one of Marvel’s most iconic superhero teams, but also at Pedro Pascal and his turn as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic — even if we’ve yet to see his stretchy powers. The movie is set to release in theaters on July 25, 2025, officially kicking off Phase Six of the MCU.
Pascal will stars alongside Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing. The film also stars Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer. That makes this the introduction not just of the Fantastic Four, but two iconic comic book villains.
The trailer is more fun than plot-heavy, including a glimpse of Johnny Storm in flames, Sue going invisible, Ben before and now—as a man made of rocks, and also H.E.R.B.I.E the robot. But we do get to see a very comic-book-faithful Galactus, as well as the Fantastic Four standing in their classic suits. The trailer also gives us a glimpse at John Malkovich playing a mystery character who is rumored to be Ivan Kragoff aka Red Ghost, another comic book supervillain. Unlike other Fantastic Four adaptations, the movie will pick up after the main four characters have already acquired their powers.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps synopsis reads: “Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”

Alongside the trailer, we also got some first images as well of the entire Fantastic Four family:
