Pixar Animation Studios’ Win or Lose is coming to Disney+ on February 19. In anticipation of the show, the streaming service has released a new clip that highlights the way our communities experience sports—in this particular case, softball. The show features the stories of eight different characters as they each prepare for a big championship softball game: the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, and even a lovesick umpire.
The show will feature the same events from the perspective of a different member of a co-ed team, called the Pickles.
In the “Cheating” clip, we hear Peruvian-American actress Rosa Salazar, who stars as Vanessa, the single mother of one of the players on the softball team featured in Win or Lose. In this episode, which features both her and her daughter Rochelle (voiced by Afro-Boricua Milan Elizabeth Ray), the relationship between mother and daughter is explored — as well as the relationship between Rochelle and her team members, after Rochelle is accused of cheating on a school test. Her mom insists it didn’t happen, but did it? And if it did, would Rochell even admit to her mom of all people?
Win or Lose also features the voices of Will Forte, Josh Thomson, Dorien Watson, Izaac Wang, Chanel Stewart, Lil Rel Howery, Melissa Villaseñor, Flula Borg, Kyleigh Curran, Jaylin Fletcher, Erin Keif, Tom Law, Beck Nolan, Orion Tran and Rhea Seehorn. The show is directed and written by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates and features music by composer Ramin Djawadi and original songs by CAMPFIRE and Djawadi.
