It looks like transgender Spanish actress Karla Sofía Gascón has confirmed that she will star alongside Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña in an upcoming film from award-winning French writer and director Jacques Audiard (The Sisters Brothers).

“Well, why hide it anymore,” Gascón wrote on social media late last week. “Yes. May everything go well for us.”

Deadline first broke the news in May that Gomez and Saldaña were in talks to join Gascón in the musical comedy Emilia Pérez. At the time, Deadline described the film as a story about “an El Chapo-type fugitive” who attempts to evade law enforcement by having sex reassignment surgery. The outlet also described it to be “along the lines of Mrs. Doubtfire.”

Gascón recently told the Azteca America show Ventaneando that the film was going to be shot in Mexico.

“We are preparing a film in Paris, in which I am going to be the protagonist, with a director who has won the Palme d’Or whose name is Jacques Audiard [and] with a French production company,” Gascón said. “I’m fascinated with Zoe Saldaña, but I still don’t know Selena Gomez.”

Gascón is best known for a handful of telenovelas she’s starred in since 2014. These include El Señor de los Cielos, Hasta el fin del mundo, Llena de amor, and Corazón salvaje. She’s also played a role in the 2013 dark comedy Nostoros los Nobles with Gerardo Méndez (Murder Mystery) and Karla Souza (Home Economics).

Earlier this summer, Gomez became only the second Latina nominated for an Emmy Award as a producer of a comedy series for her work on the Hulu series Only Murders in the Building. Saldaña will be seen later this year in the films Amsterdam and the highly anticipated sequel Avatar: The Way of Water.
