Society of the Snow (La Sociedad de la Nieve), the Oscar-nominated movie based on the real-life story of the crash of the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 in the Andes in 1972, is getting its own watch party.

J.A Bayona, the movie’s director, made the announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a video, where he promised the entire cast, crew, and real-life survivors would be watching along with everyone at home. In addition, they’ll be sharing never-before-seen content, photos, anecdotes from filming, behind-the-scene shots, and even answering questions.

The watch party will take place on Saturday, February 24th at the following times, depending on your time zone:

  • 21:00 (9 p.m.) — CET (Spain)
  • 20:00 (8 p.m.) — GMT (UK)
  • 17:00 (5 p.m.) — UTC 3 (Uruguay, Argentina, São Paulo)
  • 15:00 (3 p.m.) — EST (New York, Florida)
  • 14:00 (2 p.m.) — CST (Mexico City)
  • 12:00 (12 p.m.) — PST (California)

Questions should be tagged with the hashtag #LaSociedaDdeLaNieve or #SocietyOfTheSnow.

The watch party should help the movie with its viewership numbers on Netflix. Right now it stands as the second most-watched non-English language movie in Netflix history, trailing only the Norwegian film Troll.

Society of the Snow is nominated for two Academy Awards, Best International Feature Film and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. The 2024 Oscars ceremony is set to take place on March 10, 2024 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on ABC.
