There are so many facts coming forward about Encanto and the cast that brought the characters to life. It’s clear that the world was ready for Encanto because the music has been topping charts like nobody’s business. And Stephanie Beatriz, who plays Mirabel Madrigal, dropped another fun fact about the movie that might surprise you.
Beatriz revealed that she recorded the song “Waiting on a Miracle” while in labor. That’s right. The actress sang one of the songs for the movie while already in labor with her first child, making her a certified boss.
“I didn’t want to tell anybody at Disney because I didn’t want anyone to freak out,” Beatriz told Variety, “but I was already having some contractions when we were scheduled to record that day. I was like ‘Well, fingers crossed I finish the song before [the baby] comes!’”
According to the interview, Beatriz delivered the baby the next day after recording.
“We knew she was very, very, very, very ready to have that baby,” director Byron Howard confirmed to Variety. “But she did not tell us she was almost, almost ready.”
The wild story was worth it as Encanto has enjoyed massive success on the global stage. The song “Waiting on a Miracle” has amassed more than 32 million views on YouTube. Encanto’s soundtrack, driven by the popularity of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” topped the Billboard charts and held onto the No. 1 spot longer than Frozen.
Encanto is currently streaming on Disney+ so all of you can get lost in the magic of Stephanie Beatriz’s voice and Colombia all over again.
