This Latina Drag Queen Impersonated Celia Cruz on ‘Drag Race España’

In the middle of Celia Cruz’s centennial celebrations, the late Cuban legend was recognized in a recent episode of Drag Race España. Venezuelan drag queen Krystal Forever impersonated Cruz for the Snatch Game challenge.
Cruz, who passed away in 2003, recently celebrated what would’ve been her 100th birthday on Oct. 21. All this year, her legacy and music have been celebrated as part of her centennial anniversary. Surprisingly, Cruz was also impersonated on Drag Race España on Sunday night (August 26).
Krystal Forever was the sole Latina competing on the fifth season of Drag Race España. When the drag queen told the judges that she would take Celia Cruz for the Snatch Game, she was reminded that Lineysha Sparx was eliminated for her portrayal of the Queen of Salsa on the fifth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Krystal Forever still pushed forward with Cruz and donned the singer’s big hair and sparkling red gown. She often leaned into Cruz’s “¡Azúcar!” catchphrase, including throwing sugar on the rest of the cast.
The following day, Krystal Forever blamed the show’s host Supremme De Luxe for not letting her finish her answers on the Snatch Game. After placing in the bottom, Supremme De Luxe then directly asked Krystal Forever why she didn’t stand out during the challenge. Krystal Forever changed her reason to not wanting to step over her castmates’ responses. In Untucked, the other queens confronted Krystal Forever about her change of heart in front of Supremme De Luxe and she got defensive and momentarily walked off the set.
Krystal Forever ended up having to lip-sync to Ana Belén’s “El Hombre del Piano” against Alexandra del Raval. She was eliminated in ninth place and Supremme De Luxe got emotional bidding her farewell.
