The first taste of Drag Race México is here! In the official trailer for the Mexican spin-off of RuPaul’s Drag Race, the 11 drag queens are shown hitting the runway and a few special guest stars were revealed.
Last month at DragCon, Valentina and Lolita Banana were announced as the hosts of Drag Race México. Mexican actor and TV personality Óscar Madrazo will join them on the judging panel. To go from having previously competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race to becoming a host, Valentina told Remezcla that she was excited about the full-circle moment in her career.
“To be coming into a position of now being a host, it’s such an artistic challenge and a graduation,” she told Remezcla. “The next level in my career is in changing the history of the way people view queer people and queer stories in Mexico. It’s truly an honor.”
In the trailer, the 11 drag queens up for the title of Mexico’s Next Drag Superstar tease what’s to come. The group includes Argennis, Cristian Peralta, Gala Varo, Lady Kero, Margaret y Ya, and Matraka. Miss Vallarta, Pixie Pixie, Regina Voce, Serena Morena, and Vermelha Noir. And the drag queens can be seen bringing fierce looks into the Werk Room and on the mainstage runway.
The trailer also revealed two of the guest judges on Drag Race México.
RBD singer Christian Chávez, who is openly gay, was sitting on the judging panel. Mexican social media personality Gerardo Nuño, who is also known as Rojstar, appeared in the video as well.
The first season of Drag Race México will stream on WOW Presents Plus worldwide on June 22.
