We’re still days away from Halloween, which in TV standards means we’re preparing for Christmas movies! Netflix, in particular, has started to debut trailers for its slate of Christmas offerings, which will begin streaming next month. And as stereotypical as they all are, the holiday season truly is the perfect time for some simple, uncomplicated romantic cheer. Enter Christmas With You.
The movie stars Aimee Garcia, better known for her turn as Ella Lopez in Lucifer, as pop star Angelina. The rest is pretty on par for the course. There’s, of course, a small town, a kid, and a new chance at love. But even if it feels like we’ve watched the same movie 87 times before, we’re ready to do it 87 more. Particularly when this time we get to see someone from our communities sing, dance, and get the happy ending.
Plus, that happy ending just happens to include small-town-music-teacher and rom-com royalty Freddie Prinze Jr. – obviously, the kind of thing that only happens in movies. But we’re not here for realism. We’re here for fake snow, Christmas songs, and hopefully some magical romantic moments. And a quinceañera! Complete with tías with a lot of opinions.
Again, stereotypical …but if we’re being honest – that’s pretty much the Christmas movie way. So we’ll take the joy for our communities and call this one a win.
