Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) finds a loyal right-hand man in a new clip that premiered during TUDUM for the upcoming Tim Burton-directed Netflix series Wednesday.

In the clip, which was released early Saturday afternoon (September 24), Wednesday is sitting alone in her room listening to Chavela Vargas’ 1994 version of the Mexican folk song “La Llorona” when she gets a sense that someone else is present.

When she pulls back the sheets from her bed, Thing, the disembodied hand that is part of the Addams’ family, is discovered to be spying on her. Caught red-handed, Thing attempts to scurry away, but Wednesday quickly scoops him off the bed to begin her interrogation.

“Did you really think my highly trained olfactory sense wouldn’t pick up on the faint whiff of neroli and bergamot in your favorite hand lotion?” Wednesday asks him.

Breaking news: Thing smells citrusy.

Nervous about what our favorite could potentially do to him, he surrenders by tapping out and ultimately comes clean. Morticia and Gomez Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán), Wednesday’s parents, have sent Thing to poke around and see what Wednesday is up to.

“The fact that they thought I wouldn’t find out just proves how much they underestimate me,” she tells Thing, who she describes as “poor, naïve appendage.” She then gives Thing an ultimatum. Spend the entire semester locked away in her desk drawer or “pledge your undying loyalty” to her.

We’ll see if Wednesday gets the extra hand she needs when her eponymous series premieres on Netflix on November 23, 2022.
