During a recent interview with Molusco TV, Karol G surprised fans when she revealed that she had been offered a “super cool role” in Aquaman but ultimately decided to turn it down.

“The commitment was so great that it scared me to let go,” Karol G said. “I had to stop making music for eight months and first things first, my music is at this moment the most important thing in my life. I had to reject that role. I would love to be the bad guy in a movie.”

Karol G didn’t say which role she was offered and didn’t specify if she was talking about the original 2018 movie or the upcoming sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Still, social media users started to speculate that the role she turned down was Mera, the underwater princess played by Amber Heard. If she was referring to the sequel, we’re going to assume her aqua blue hair, which she sported for two years until recently, was an asset to her.

Many of Karol G’s fans online thought she made the right decision, especially since making a movie would’ve kept her out of the recording studio for so long.

“I’m glad Karol G rejected a role…because if she would [have] taken it, she would not be giving us music for 8 months that’s insane I’m glad she said NO she really loves her music career & fans.”

Even though Karol G passed on the opportunity to be in a DC Comics movie, she didn’t say no to all of her calls from Hollywood. She’ll star alongside Sofia Vergara (Chef) in the upcoming Netflix series Griselda about infamous Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco.
