WATCH: Latino Grinch Makes His Return to Universal Studios

We know who we’re inviting to our next carne asada! The Grinch, a fictional character from Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas has become a cultural icon— not just in pop culture, but in the Latine community as well.
“El Grinch Latino” has been populating social media, with videos of the Universal Studios character interacting with visitors in Spanish and Spanglish, giving hilarious one-liners and even dancing along to zapateo and to “Mi Burrito Sabanero.”
The same thing happened this time last year, with fans falling in love with the Latino Grinch.
Now in 2025, the Grinch’s zapateo is so clean, that commenters are even claiming that the fictional town of Whoville is actually called “Wholiacan, Sinaloa” or “Wholisco,” a play on Words for the city of Culiacán and the state of Jalisco in Mexico.
El Grinch Latino is at Universal Studios Hollywood, where fans line up for an opportunity to meet and even bring a gift to the Grinch and Cindy Lou in a designated meet and greet area. Max, also referred to as “Firulais” by the Grinch, is also at the meet and greet.
Jim Carrey was the original actor behind the 2000 live action adaptation of the 1957 children’s book, which follows the story of a reclusive troll with the goal of ruining Christmas for the residents of Whoville.
While information about the actor who plays the Grinch at Universal Studios remains undisclosed, we know a thing or two about the Latino Grinch; He’s a true Latino tio, with enviable dance moves, savage commentary, and a true rockero foo, we mean WHO, as seen in @Hauntina’s video where he shares his love for rock en Español too.
