Interested in enrolling in Nevermore Academy and becoming a classmate of Wednesday Addams?
In anticipation of the premiere of the creepy and kooky series Wednesday later this year, Netflix has created a website where potential students can apply to the specialized school by taking a short quiz to find out if they have what it takes. According to the website’s application page, Nevermore is looking for “outcasts of all kinds.”
The school is the alma mater of Gomez (Luis Guzmán) and Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) Addams. It appears from an earlier preview of the new series, their daughter Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) is sent there after she has a hard time making new friends at her public school.
“Have you ever been told you are different, odd or simply don’t belong?” a Nevermore recruiting video asks viewers. “In a world full of ‘normies,’ do you feel like an outcast?”
The video, which includes “werewolf reproduction” as part of the curriculum, goes on to review the history of Nevermore Academy and explain that the school is a “very special place for people” who feel like an outsider. According to the video, the Academy was founded in 1791 “to educate outcasts…students from all walks of life – and death.”
The school’s mission is to help students “master their unique abilities.” To do this, they offer a “full range of extracurricular activities.” The video also boasts about some of its more noteworthy alumni like 19th century writer Edgar Allen Poe, whose 1845 poem “The Raven,” includes the titular bird repeating the word “nevermore” in the presence of a man descending into madness.
At the end of the video, a sign that reads “free decapitations” is held up by Wednesday to lure potential students into applying.
