Oscar Isaac isn’t done with the Marvel Universe. We have yet to get a definitive answer on Moon Knight Season 2—even though the second season has been rumored to be coming for a while. What we do know is that Isaac will be joining other Marvel big stars in the new season of the animated alternate universe show What If…?.

Marc Spector/Moon Knight appears briefly in the trailer, but he gets perhaps the pivotal line, saying “If we all go down, the world will be left defenseless,” as he looks at some kind of hologram. That’s not the only Moon Knight reference we get as another moment in the trailer shows Moon Knight-themed robots coming together, more or less like the Power Rangers, to form one big robot.

“With some mysteries, the only answer is what if…” the Watcher says near the end of the trailer. Other characters confirmed to appear in Season 3 are Captain America/Sam Wilson, The Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes, Hulk/Bruce Banner, The Red Guardian, Captain Peggy Carter, Agatha Harkness, Shang-Chi, and Storm the Goddess of Thunder.

This doesn’t mean a second season of Moon Knight, or a possible Midnight Suns project is off the table.

Earlier this year, Isaac addressed the possibility during a panel at Middle East Film and Comic Con, “I thought there was an interesting opportunity with Midnight Suns. “There’s such interesting characters in there, and now that we’ve set the groundwork with learning who Marc, Steven, Jake are, it could be an interesting opportunity to see him as part of a team and what that dynamic would be. So I think that would be exciting, I think for me, I definitely hope there’s some room to explore that possibility.”

Also, back in 2022, Isaac also appeared with Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab in an TikTok video where Diab’s daughter asked both if there was going to be a second season of the show. A bearded Isaac replied with, “Why else would we be in Cairo?”

What If…? will begin streaming on December 22 on Disney+, with a new episode debuting daily for eight days. And you can recognize Oscar Isaac at the :51 mark in the official trailer below.
