Imagine if TV series like The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Moon Knight were produced as telenovelas by a Spanish-language network like Televisa?
That’s what TikTok user @iamelimckenzie has done for his over 326,000 followers. The content creator has implemented dramatic video and music effects into several superhero movies and TV shows that were dubbed in Spanish.
But in his most recent videos, which he began posting this year, he started turning his pop culture interests into footage that one would see at the start of a telenovela. For each of these videos, McKenzie uses the opening Televisa logo to introduce the clip.
In his The Rings of Power mashup, he starts the video with the opening of the series, but instead of using the original theme song, he plays Alejandro Fernández’s 1995 ballad “Como Quien Pierde Una Estrella.”
McKenzie also changes the credits to have more Latine names. For example, he changes actor Ismael Cruz Córdova’s character’s name from Arondir to “Aaron Diaz” and actor Orwain Arthur’s character’s name from Durin IV to “El Durito del Durango.”
In his Moon Knight revision, McKenzie uses the Spanish-language song “Hijo de la Luna” sung by Gerónimo Rauch and Carlos Rivera to introduce the Marvel series. Of course, the Spanish title of the series, Caballero Luna, is used instead of Moon Knight.
Other TV series and movies McKenzie recreates intros for include Loki, WandaVision, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. McKenzie has a bit of a mean streak, too. In Loki, he changes Owen Wilson’s character’s name from Mobius M. Mobius to El Nariz Chueca (Crooked Nose).
