The Hulu comedy series This Fool is back for season 2, which means a lot more laughs from lead actors Chris Estrada and Frankie Quiñones.

By the end of the first season, Julio’s (Estrada) love life is in shambles and the gang rehabilitation center he works for, Hugs Not Thugs, has closed its doors. From the official synopsis of the second season: “New roommates Julio and Luis embark on finding new careers and romances with the help of … former Huggers.”

In the official trailer for season 2, Luis is frustrated with his cousin’s lack of motivation now that he is unemployed. “Every day is the same with you,” Luis says. “Do something with your life. Go get a job.”

Luis is doing well for himself. He has a job as a security guard and seems to be on the right path to success after being released from prison at the start of season 1. Chef Percy Williams (Jamar Malachi Neighbors) isn’t impressed with his friends’ living situation. “Y’all living in a garage?” Percy asks. “I got a garage. You know who live up in there? A car, not two Mexicans.”

Somehow, Julio and Luis are going to have to learn how to put Hugs Not Thugs behind them. They turn to their friend Minister Payne (Michael Imperioli) who has moved into the desert to start a new life. That seems to motivate the cousins to start a new business, a coffee shop they name Mugs Not Thugs.

“It’s gonna be like Starbucks, but better,” Luis says. “We’re not gonna have no bathroom code.”

We’ll see what kind of crazy adventures Julio and Luis get themselves into when the second season of This Fool premieres on July 28, 2023, on Hulu.
