It’s time to say goodbye to our favorite vampires. FX has announced that What We Do in the Shadows will end with its upcoming sixth season. The series, which is told in mockumentary format, follows the adventures of vampire roommates Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), and their familiar Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) as they try to navigate the human world.

The fifth season of the show sees Guillermo dealing with the ramifications of finally getting what he always dreamed of: becoming a vampire and having to keep it a secret from everyone else. Production on Season 6 isn’t set to begin until January of 2024 and there is no release date set for the final season yet.

The show is based on the 2014 film of the same name by Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi.

Fan reaction to the news ranged from anger at the cancellation, with one fan saying “3 spits on the face for whoever decided this, best comedy show going right now.”

To sadness, with the best (worst?) pictures to prove it.

Some, however, saw the silver lining. “I see it as a positive that the show is wrapping up the way it wants to, rather than suddenly being canceled without finishing the story their way.”

Then there were fans saying they would still be talking about the show 10 years from now.

One thing is certain, we will miss these vampires and their small little corner of Staten Island.
