It’s impossible not to notice the pink taco stand set up around the Boyle Heights area in Los Angeles these days. Maybe it’s because of the bold color of the taco stand with the words “Not your basic taqueria” printed on the front. Or maybe it’s because of the mouthwatering smells coming from inside it. Either way, it’s irresistible.

The name of the food stand is Pink and Boujee LA, and it’s owned by Yesenia Castro. She is a “Dreamer” that was brought to Los Angeles by her parents when she was nine months old. Castro holds her Mexican culture close to her heart and wanted to incorporate it into her own business. Hence, Pink and Boujee LA was born. It’s known for its signature pink tacos, loaded Hot Cheetos, and aguas frescas.

To keep the business running strong, Castro has maintained a serious social media presence, especially on TikTok. She posts a lot of food videos and livens them up with some of her favorite Latine music from artists like Anitta, Bad Bunny, and the late Selena Quintanilla.

Castro started posting to TikTok in July 2021 and currently has a little over 29,000 followers. Some of her most-watched videos include a clip of her posing in front of her taco stand with music from Los Ángeles Azules playing in the background. The words, “This sound is what it feels like being a Latina DACA entrepreneur following her dreams” are also posted on the video.

Another video features Castro hitching her taco stand to the back of her car and driving it into the Arts District in L.A. There, she sets up her stand and gets ready to start the day. The video reads, “You’re a DACA Latina trying to follow your dreams, so you can have the opportunity to retire your parents.”

Sounds like a great American Dream if you ask us.
