A list of the world’s 50 best bars for 2022 was recently released, including nine in Latin America.

Of the nine in Latin America, the highest ranked bar was Licorería Limantour in Mexico City at No. 4. Owned by Benjamin Padrón and José Luis Leon, Licorería Limantour is described as a bar “that gets everything right…with efficient service, on-point drinks and an intoxicating atmosphere.” The bar also won the award for Best Bar in North America and the Rémy Martin Legend of the List award.

“We deeply appreciate the experiences we have created in the company of the people who have made Limantour a place where stories are told and dreams come true,” read a message on the bar’s Instagram page on Wednesday (October 5). “We are excited to see that our family is getting bigger and bigger. Sharing what we are passionate about with all of you, day by day at the bar, is our most genuine way of showing you our love and gratitude.”

Three other bars in Mexico City also made the list: Handshake Speakeasy at No. 11, Hanky Panky at No. 13, and Baltra Bar at No. 32. “We are so happy and grateful for everyone that has believed in us for the last 1.6 years,” Handshake Speakeasy wrote on Instagram. “None of this would’ve been possible without you!”

Other Latin American bars that made the cut were Alquímico in Cartagena, Colombia, at No. 10, which also won the award for Best Bar in South America; Florería Atlántico, Tres Monos and CoChinChina in Buenos Aires, Argentina at No. 18, No. 27 and No. 42; and Carnaval in Lima, Peru, at No. 44.
