Superhero costumes have always been a foundation of Halloween, and while they’re mainly designed for kids, that doesn’t mean anyone else can’t done a cape and pretend to be their favorite heroes, either. And even though there are many iconic heroes like Superman or Spider-Man within the superhero world, there are plenty of superheroes that get overlooked. That’s especially true when it comes to Latino superheroes.
Whether from Marvel Comics, DC Comics or anywhere in between, these Latino superheroes are iconic for a reason, and that’s partly because of the fans and their unending love for their adventures, powers, or their background. So taking on the mantle of these superheroes, even for Halloween, is a great way to make a fun impression and introduce others to a hero or two they might not know about.

1
Spider-Man (Miles Morales)
Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, Afro-Puerto Rican Miles Morales has become an icon in his own right with many variations of an amazing suit. Blending style and substance with a simple black and red color scheme. Thankfully, this look may be one of the easiest to find and bring to life and is always a hit, no matter the crowd, especially after the Spider-Verse movies.
2
Vibe
Created by Gerry Conway and Chuck Patton, Cisco Ramon aka Vibe, was a unique hero with an original outfit that featured a deep v-cut top. Now more modernized, the vibration-based hero has a more modern look with a jacket, goggles, and gloves. It was made popular by The Flash’s Carlos Valdez. Oozing style, Vibe is a simple and fun costume that homages a classic Latino hero.
3
Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner)
Created by Ron Marz, Bill Willingham, and Darryl Banks, Kyle Rayner was an iconic Green Lantern in the ‘90s who had a distinct look that challenged other designs that came before. From his arm gauntlets to his massive mask, a Kyle Rayner Green Lantern suit is simple in execution but massive in impact.
4
Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes)
Created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers, and Cully Hamner, Jaime Reyes is the latest and most popular in a long line of Blue Beetles. But what makes him a standout, aside from his fun-loving personality, is his sentient alien armor. Following a successful film outing starring Xolo Maridueña, it’s the perfect template for a fun, complex, but memorable costume.
5
Shazam (Pedro Peña)
Created by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert, Pedro Peña is a more recent character who briefly had the powers of Shazam in the comics. However, the Shazam! movies gave him a larger role while also making him a consistent hero. Whether embracing the movie or comic look, Pedro’s emerald super suit with a white cape and gold boots would stand out at any party.
6
Sideways
Created by Dan DiDio, Justin Jordan, and Kenneth Rocafort, Sideways aka Derek James, is another recent addition to the Latino superhero landscape with the ability to travel through dimensional rifts. His style is very reminiscent of Spider-Man but with more jagged shades of green on the face and body of his suit. A morph suit with some tweaks is the most straightforward way to bring the Puerto Rican hero to life.
7
Sunspot
Created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod, Roberto Da Costa aka Sunspot, is a powerful Mutant that grew in popularity recently with the release of X-Men ‘97. Though the Afro-Brazilian character has many styles, his most popular is the black and yellow X-Men uniform from the series, and he is one many new fans will surely recognize on Halloween.
8
Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)
Created by Felipe Smith and Tradd Moore, Robbie Reyes is often recognized as the Ghost Rider with the car, but he’s so much more. Though it’s impossible to truly embody the character’s look, a simple biker jacket akin to Gabriel Luna’s in Agents of SHIELD or even a mask and spray-dyed hair could offer a cool and creative look for Halloween.
9
Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel O’ Hara)
Created by Peter David and Rick Leonardi, Miguel O’ Hara’s Spider-Man 2099 suit is the most intimidating and striking design, blending the future into a Day of the Dead suit, complete with a web cape. This style is always a standout and an easy contender for best costume at any Halloween party, especially if modeled after the Oscar Isaac version from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
10
White Tiger (Hector Ayala)
Created by Bill Mantlo, Yvette Perez, and George Pérez, it would be a crime not to include the first Latino superhero, White Tiger aka Hector Ayala. While his suit is the simplest of all, being white from top to bottom, donning the costume, even for a Halloween party, offers a chance to tell people of the significance of such a character and look cool while doing it. And with his character appearing in Daredevil: Born Again, you’ll be ahead of the curve for next Halloween too.
