Who knew so much could be said about a single Oprah interview? Then again, who knew Meghan Markle was going to spill so much sovereign-TEA?
OK, we all kind of knew, but the spectrum of opinions is unbelievable. From right-wing sexists who refuse to acknowledge the emotional issues Markle was experiencing during that time to supporters who can’t believe she even lasted two years, the perspectives were vast.
Even British comedian and Last Week Tonight host John Oliver was trending Tuesday (March 9) when an interview he gave Stephen Colbert on The Late Show in 2018 went viral for basically predicting everything that was going to happen to Markle once she married into the Royal Family.
“She might be marrying into a family that could cause her some emotional complications,” Oliver told Colbert. “[The Royal Family is] an emotionally-stunted group of fundamentally-flawed people doing a very silly pseudo job. That’s what she’s marrying into. I hope she likes it. It’s going to be weird for her.”
Based on how she was treated, which is horribly, no wonder her and Harry left for the sake of her and her family’s wellbeing. Nevertheless, that part of Markle and Harry’s lives seems to be over. No more daily bowing and curtsying for that family.
Around the world, there are plenty of royals that enjoy the pomp and circumstance of it all, including a handful who have some Latin ancestry. Here is a rundown of eight of them from across the globe who still enjoy their thrones and tiaras.
Princess Christian of Hanover
Born in Lima, Peru, Alessandra de Osma is an attorney, handbag designer and former model. She became a member of the Hanoverian Royal Family, a German royal house, when she married Prince Christian of Hanover. The couple wed in 2018 and had twins in July 2020 in Spain. Also in 2018, she launched her fashion brand, Moi & Sass.
Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg
Alexandra Joséphine Teresa Charlotte Marie Wilhelmine is the only daughter of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. Her mother was born in Havana, Cuba, and left the country with her parents in 1959 during the Cuban Revolution and settled in New York City. Currently, 30-year-old Princess Alexandra is the sixth in line to the throne.
Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange
At age 17, Princess Catharina-Amalia is the heir apparent to the throne of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. She is the eldest child of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. Her mother was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was named after her paternal great-grandmother Máxima Bonorino González.
Tatiana Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo, 37, is the wife of Andrea Albert Pierre Casiraghi, who is fourth in line to the throne of Monaco. She was raised in New York by a wealthy Colombian father and Brazilian mother. In 2016, she was ranked by Forbes magazine as the world’s 722nd richest billionaire with a net worth of $2.4 billion. Fun fact: Her husband’s grandmother was Oscar-winning actress Grace Kelly (The Country Girl).

She became the spokesmodel for Pretty Ballerina’s in 2019.
Marie Marguerite, Duchess of Anjou
The 37-year-old duchess was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She married Louis Alphonse, Duke of Anjou, in 2004. Because her husband is considered by some royalists as the head of the French Royal House, she is also considered the Queen of Consort of France and Navarre.
