What’s the most dreaded astrological event of the year? And no, it’s not mercury in retrograde. The actual answer is eclipse season. Mostly happening around four times a year, lunar and solar eclipses aren’t just a visual spectacle in our skies—it’s also important astrologically. They’re a period of time known for intense and unexpected changes. To prepare for our first eclipse of 2025, I spoke to astrologer, tarot reader, and overall bruja tropical Laura Kryshtar.

What do lunar eclipses mean in astrology?
Lunar eclipses always happen when the moon is in its full stage. In astrology, full moons are that time of the month where we are meant to release everything that no longer serves us. Lunar eclipses is that energy amplified to its 10th degree. It’s also a time for self-reflection and going deeper into our subconscious. Under normal circumstances, “releasing” can be either our own choice or the universe forcing us. But with eclipses, this can be seen in sudden losses, breakups, getting laid off, or any other unexpected changes.
“Ancient astrologers would describe [eclipses] as the moment of crisis. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to rain fire or it’s the end of the world, but it’s that what becomes shattered is a belief that gives us a sense of certainty,” Kryshtar says to Remezcla.
The quick answer: a lot. We currently have a watery (and emotional) situation going on. Every single planet is in Pisces, with the exception of Jupiter, Pluto, and Uranus. We also have the North Node in Pisces and the South Node in Virgo. The nodes are opposing points within the moon’s orbit. In our birth chart, they represent our life’s purpose (North Node) and the lessons from our past we’re meant to grow from (South Node).
“A North Node in Pisces is actually just shooting you towards developing your own faith. And faith is an abstract concept, but in order to build faith, you need what Virgo—the opposite sign—has,” Kryshtar says. “What do I have to repeat over and over in order to hold that faith? Maybe I have a religious or a spiritual practice, or maybe I just try to be creative the whole time?”
What does it mean that this eclipse is in Virgo?
This eclipse is happening while the moon is in the sign of Virgo. Virgo is an earth sign, known for its practical and realistic nature. They’re the ones taking care of things. They are the ultimate planners and organizers. It’s ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, and by the sixth house, which represents daily routines, work, health, and service. That means that everything we’re releasing this eclipse season has to do with those themes, specifically with health, routines, or work. Because we’re in Pisces season, we’re in a daydreaming, emotional state—this eclipse in Virgo will force us to pay attention and plan, to make these dreams possible with realistic and practical steps.
“It’s pulling us to just focus on the little things, in the details, and open us up to the larger picture,” Kryshtar says. “Where do we get fixated with something or someone? That’s where these eclipses are going to be hitting. It wants to take you to the ultimate certainty,”
And what can each sign expect for this lunar eclipse?
I asked Kryshtar where this Eclipse in Virgo will be hitting all rising signs and what advice she’d have for each of them. Don’t know your rising sign? Use this link to create your birth chart (a snapshot of the sky at the moment of our birth that details every astrological placement).
1
Aries Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? The 6th house of routine, health, and work.
Have you been doing what you actually want to do? Do you see your true self reflected in your routine? It doesn’t have to be big or extreme. “Al final del día, tú eres lo que haces,” Kryshtar says. If you say or think one thing, and then say another… that means you’re not aligned with yourself. It’s time to correct that.
2
Taurus Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? 5th house of romance, children, creativity, and fun.
This is officially your sign to say f**k it. Don’t take things so seriously all the time. It’s time to actually have fun. “I actually like this for them,” Kryshtar says. “Maybe you’re focusing too much on the art part, and maybe you need to focus a little bit more on the technical part, to actually enhance your creative projects and make your life easier.”
3
Gemini Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? 4th house of home, family, and emotional foundations.
For some, this might be a good moment to dream big about starting a family or getting the job you’ve always wanted. But for most, this will be about your past, and specifically your family’s past, and how that impacts your present. “Indagar en todo esto no necesariamente va a resolver,” Kryshtar says. “I know enough to understand that maybe I’ve been there, maybe this is a rabbit hole. And there’s no way I can know all of what was going on or even what the truth was, but I make peace with it.”
4
Cancer Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? 3rd house of communication, immediate environment, and learning.
“I feel like maybe it could be kind of hard for Cancer, because it’s questioning their beliefs,” Kryshtar says. Specifically, this eclipse will force you to communicate in a completely new (much needed) way. It’ll test how willing you are to actually listen to others (and to themselves), and whether to pivot away or closer accordingly.
5
Leo Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? 2nd house of money and possessions.
While this eclipse will definitely impact your finances, it’ll also touch on your relationships and how that relates to money. Maybe it’s about paying back debts, or it’s how money impacts how you see yourself. “They feel like they’re losing everything else, and they have to remember no te puedes perder,” Kryshtar says. Even if you feel alone, you always have you. Don’t lose yourself in the sauce.
6
Virgo Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? 1st house of self-identity, physical appearance, and the persona.
“For them, it’s all about believing in themselves and trusting themselves because they tend to serve the other y siempre estar pendiente del otro,” Kryshtar says. “And the reminder here is that you have to replenish yourself with what you need in a practical way.” You don’t need to sacrifice yourself for your loved ones. This is a good opportunity to heal any wounds related to equating your self-worth with how you’re serving others.
7
Libra Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? 12th house of the unconscious, the spiritual, secrets and dreams.
It’s time to book that retreat! “Va a estar muy bueno, and you know why? Because they’re actually going to need to slow down and really enjoy life,” Kryshtar says. This eclipse season will force you to sit back, do nothing, and look inward. You’ll have to analyze your daily life and health from a different, much deeper, perspective.
8
Scorpio Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? 11th house of friendships, community, and social causes.
This will be a hard one for you, Scorpios. This phase of your life reminds us of this saying: ‘dime con quien andas, y te diré quien eres.’ Expect lots of changes happening to your friend groups, especially realizing how the people around you are reflecting on who you are and what your values are. “They can be really harsh on themselves, muy exigentes, and they need to learn to be a little more compassionate and loving to themselves,” Kryshtar says.
9
Sagittarius Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? 10th house of career, legacy, reputation, and social status.
This eclipse will focus on your long-term goals and what success means for you. But (arguably) more importantly, it’ll make you question your sense of home and how that’ll define your future. “You take yourself wherever you go, and if you don’t fix that, you will never feel at home or safe anywhere you go,” Kryshtar says.
10
Capricorn Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? 9th house of travel, philosophy, higher learning, and values.
This one’s important for you, Capricorn. “They might question if they’re living a life with purpose, with meaning—remembering that life has the meaning that you give to it,” Kryshtar says. If you feel unfulfilled, this is the moment to ask yourself why, and what can you do to change it. You might think you know the answer (and solution) to that, but remember to keep an open mind. Sometimes the best road is the easiest one, not the hardest.
11
Aquarius Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? 8th house of transformation, death, intimacy, and rebirth.
Aquarius is known as a distant air sign, but it yearns for closeness, and this eclipse will tackle that. “Están buscando un poquito más de cercanía desde la esencia,” Kryshtar says. “And when it comes to taking care of themselves and calling inwards, que sea así, sin límites.” An area where they should put limits on, though, is their spending. Now is the time to figure out the details of their finances.
12
Pisces Rising
Which house will the lunar eclipse be impacting? 7th house of relationships, partnerships, commitments, and contracts.
Our main character this eclipse season! Pisces is known as extremely empathic and caring when it comes to others, and now it’s time to focus all that energy onto yourselves. Right now, it’s time to focus on your independence. That doesn’t mean you have to be alone, it just means be wary of who you have codependent relationships with. “Pisces es el signo de entrega. And because they gave themselves entirely to others, they emptied themselves out,” Kryshtar says. “And it’s very important that it’s not just remembering that lesson, it’s putting it into practice, making it part of their routines.”
