It’s somehow May 7 already, which means Rico Nasty, born Maria-Cecilia Simone Kelly, has officially taken another spin around the sun. Or is it earth?

At 23, the punk rapper has developed a singular style—one of the many things that help her to stand out in an increasingly crowded space—and, of course, sound.

Because we’re in quarantine, I imagine her birthday celebration guest list will consist of Tia, Tamera and whoever else she resides with.

The rapper’s kicking in the bumpy new year by going hard at final touches on her upcoming album, Nightmare Vacation, as well as developing technologically-advanced ideas to give fans that experience they may not otherwise get for a while.

Coronavirus, it might have inspired me to actually do what I always wanted to do with the album, which was make it very virtual,” she told Uproxx.

Nasty has always been one step ahead stylistically and in her own lane sonically. One can only imagine how challenging (and on the flip side delightful) it’d be to style and continue to refine and develop the look of an already bold personality. In February, we spoke to stylist Haylee Ahumada about how she ended up doing just that.

Let’s take a look at a handful of some of Rico Nasty’s best looks as we wait for that new new to drop.

Time’s to tell if we’ll ever have Fashion Week in its originally intended format again but, if we don’t, here’s a look at someone who went out swinging.
