2023 was a big year for Hollywood and the Latine community, with movies like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Blue Beetle making huge waves for fans and newcomers alike. That said, 2024 has promised to keep the momentum going with an even more varied list of movies than ever before. 

From a girl-meets-monster rom-com horror to another Marvel superhero swinging onto the big screen and sequels to classics starring some of our favorite heroes and villains, here are 10 movies to look out for in 2024.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga stars Anya-Taylor Joy and Chris Hemsworth. Set before Mad Max: Fury Road, Joy takes on a younger version of Charlize Theron’s iconic character to explore her origins and become the fierce warrior we’ve come to know.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga races to theaters on May 24th, 2024.

Ballerina

Ballerina stars Ana de Armas, Norman Reedus, and Keanu Reeves and is set in the world of John Wick. The movie will explore a new assassin who is on a quest to avenge the death of her family.

Ballerina will hit theaters on June 7th. 2024.

A Quiet Place: Day One

A Quiet Place: Day One stars Lupita Nyong’o and Djimon Hounsou in a prequel set in John Krasinsksi’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi universe. The title teases surviving the early days of the alien invasion.

A Quiet Place: Day One hits theaters on June 28th, 2024.

Madame Web

Madame Web stars Isabella Merced alongside Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, and Celeste O’Connor. The movie follows the titular Marvel Comics hero played by Johnson as she protects three young girls from a villain named Ezekiel Simms.

Madame Web hits theaters on February 14th, 2024.

Frida

Based on the famous artist, Frida is a documentary directed by Carla Gutierrez that explores Frida Kahlo’s life in the most unique way yet: through Frida’s diary entries, letters, and interviews.

Frida will be available during the Sundance Film Festival from January 18th to the 28th and for online screenings on January 25th at 10 am EST and January 29th at 1:55 am EST.

Alien: Romulus

Alien: Romulus stars Isabella Merced and Cailee Spaeny and is directed by Fede Alvarez. This entry, while vague, is a stand-alone that follows a group of young adults confronting the “most terrifying life form in the universe” aka the Xenomorph.

Alien: Romulus stalks theaters on August 16th, 2024.

Civil War

Civil War stars Wagner Moura alongside Kirsten Dunst, Jessee Plemons, and Cailee Spaeny. The story is set in a world where the US is in the middle of a second civil war and a group of journalists track its progress.

Civil War will hit theaters on April 26th, 2024.

Beetlejuice 2

Beetlejuice 2 stars Jenna Ortega, Wynona Rider, and Michael Keaton in a sequel to the iconic 1988 movie. The plot, as of now, is unknown but will likely focus on Astrid Deetz, the daughter of Ryder’s Lydia Deetz. And from the behind-the-scenes images that have popped up, there’s a wedding involved.

Beetlejuice 2 is set to release in theaters on September 6th, 2024.

The Casagrandes Movie

The Casagrandes Movie stars Izabella Alvarez and continues the animated series, The Casagrandes. The series and movie will follow a loving Mexican-American family through the eyes of Ronnie Anne Santiago.

Currently, there’s no release date, but the movie will hit Netflix in 2024.

Your Monster

Your Monster stars Melissa Barrera, Tommy Dewey, and Edmund Donovan. The rom-com horror tells the story of a young woman who meets and falls for a monster living in her closet.

Your Monster premieres at the Sundance Film Festival on January 18th, 2024.
