Who’s ready for Virgo season? Often described as analytical, detail-oriented, and hardworking, we’re continuing our monthly listicle with Virgo, which approximately runs from Aug. 23 to Sept. 22. The Maiden sign is part of the Earth sign collective with Taurus and Capricorn. We’ve already gushed over our Taurus favs, now, let’s continue with our dear Virgos.

There are many famous Latine Virgos, including the late Mexican legend Chalino Sánchez, who was known to be a hardworking artist. For those who don’t know, Sánchez was no overnight celebrity: he worked from the bottom by selling his cassettes out of his car’s trunk before getting on stage and eventually leaving his musical legacy. Another Virgo trait he demonstrated throughout his lifetime was being detail-oriented in his signature narcocorridos, which captured the lives of well-known drug lords. But there are more mainstream artists we’re celebrating this month. We’re also toasting Mexican pop singer and actress Thalía, whose birthday is Aug. 26.

Besides our aforementioned favorites, more artists celebrating another year around the sun this month include Reyna Tropical’s Fabi Reyna, Mexican reggaetonero El Malilla, and Mexican rising reggaeton singer Joss ML, who undoubtedly show their Virgo-ness in the amount of detail they put into their wordplay and songwriting. We are also toasting to Colombian singer Ysa C, Argentinean pop star Nicki Nicole, and Mexican singer Andria Rose, who are known for working hard to create and release bops we sing year-round.

What else do we love about each Virgo artist? The way they release songs that continue to push their genre’s boundaries and keep their listeners hooked and ready to press replay. From Sánchez’s classic corrido “Los Chismes” to Andria Rose’s sultry single “Satellite,” here are seven songs to celebrate our favorite Maiden sign on their birthday month.

And for any Virgo reading this: Happy birthday!

Chalino Sánchez – “Los Chismes”

Born on Aug. 30, 1960, Sánchez is known for being one of the first singers to push narcocorridos to the mainstream. With songs like “Alma Enamorada,” “Nieves De Enero,” and “Los Chismes,” the Mexican icon left now classic hits that are often played on the radio and in our pedas. Though his popularity skyrocketed after his murder, his legacy remains as one of the most influential Mexican artists to this day. Many música mexicana artists still reference him as an inspiration. Case in point: Fuerza Regida’s Jesús Ortiz Paz’s fit in his latest music video “MARLBORO ROJO,” which echoes Sánchez’s signature suit attire.

Reyna Tropical – “Conexión Ancestral”

Reyna Tropical’s Fabi Reyna is celebrating their birthday this Virgo season. Recently, Reyna Tropical released their debut album Malegría, which includes hits like “Cartegena,”  “Malegría,” and “Conexión Ancestral.” In pure Virgo fashion, they paid attention to the sonic details of the album, which explores Congolese, Peruvian, and Afro-Colombian rhythms. They also embody a Virgo’s hardworking mentality, continuing to push their music and perform on stage after their musical partner’s fatal accident. And if that’s not enough, their hard work shows on stage as they sing, dance, and get the crowd going. During their recent festival performance in Napa Valley’s La Onda festival, Fabi hyped the audience while presenting new songs that left the crowd cheering for more.

El Malilla – “Golosa”

Born on Aug. 26, El Mali is blowing candles this summer. It’s been a huge year for the face of Mexican reggaeton. From performing at Coachella to expanding his label La Esquina Inc, the Mexican singer is at a peak. His Virgo sign’s traits of being analytical, detail-oriented, and hardworking show in his ongoing accomplishments, which include performing outside his home country. And he’s not slowing down. The reggaetonero just dropped his newest EP Tu Maliante Bebé, which features songs like “Rebeca,” “Gatito,” and “Mamisuki,” all of which remind listeners that even though he may be blowing up, he’s staying loyal to his genre.

Ysa C – “Me Perdí”

It’s Colombian singer Ysa C’s birthday on Aug. 31! Known for mixing Afro-pop rhythms and reggaeton, the young star is making a name for herself as one of the up-and-coming stars from Colombia. Like her hardworking Virgo colleagues, Ysa C also shows her work ethic by continuously dropping music. This year, she released songs like “Me Perdi” with Hamilton, “NoNoNo,” and “UH VETE” with Dahili and Damn Goldo, all showing what she’s capable of. With these singles in mind, we can’t wait until the Afro-Latina finally drops her highly anticipated debut album, which will hopefully be soon! Until then, we’ll celebrate her birthday by hitting replay on “Me Perdí.”

Nicki Nicole – “WE LOVE THAT SH*T”

Born on Aug. 25, Nicki Nicole is turning 25 this year. As a true Virgo, Nicki identifies with being analytical in wanting things in order. In an interview, she said, “I have that [Virgo] trait where I want everything to be in order, for everything to go one step at a time,” when asked which of her sign’s traits she relates to the most. In the conversation, she also said she likes to let go and go with the flow, which we’ve seen her do in songs like “Ojos Verdes.” But if it’s one thing that Nicki is recognized for, it’s her rap verses, which have made her one of Argentina’s current hip-hop representatives thanks to her hard-working ethic.

Joss ML – “Como Tony”

La Esquina Inc is celebrating two Virgos this year. Joss ML — who went from working behind the scenes as part of El Malilla’s team to owning the spotlight — is turning 26. Born on Sept. 1, the young Virgo shows his hardworking sign trait by wearing many hats as part of La Esquina Inc’s crew. Now releasing music under his name, he’s here to show that he has what it takes to be a reggaeton mexa exponent. “If you want something, you have to fight for it and you have to make sacrifices to do it,” he told Remezcla in a recent interview. “I think we are doing things right. There is a reason why we are where we are.”

Andria Rose – “Satellite”

Rising Mexican singer, songwriter, and musician Andria Rose is another Virgo queen to celebrate this year. Known for her sultry music, such as “Satellite,” the emerging star showcases her Virgo traits, including being detail-oriented in creating a specific, gentle vibe with her music. These details also come up in her last EP, Coming Up Roses, where she mixes bossa nova, jazz, and dream pop, leaving her fans in a dreamy trance à la Kali Uchis. What else do we love about this Virgo? Her hardworking directness and not being afraid to shoot her shot — which helped Remezcla find her enthralling music.
