Bad Bunny could make history at the 2026 Grammy Awards tonight. The artist received six nominations, including Album of the Year.
In 2023, Bad Bunny made history with the first Spanish-language LP nominated for Album of the Year for his blockbuster album Un Verano Sin Ti. Bad Bunny is nominated again in the category this year for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. If he wins in the category, it will mark the first time that a Spanish-language LP takes home the biggest award of the night. Bad Bunny is also nominated for Song of the Year and Record of the Year for “DtMF.”
Stay tuned here for live updates on Bad Bunny at tonight’s Grammy Awards.
Bad Bunny Makes History Winning Album of the Year
Bad Bunny won one of the biggest awards of the night, Album of the Year, for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. This marks the first time in 68 years of the Grammy Awards that a Spanish-language LP has won in that category.
The Puerto Rican artist was crying tears of joy while walking up to the podium. Bad Bunny notably said most of his speech in Spanish, which appeared to catch CBS offguard. The channel didn’t provide any subtitles for the Spanish portion of his speech. While shouting out Puerto Rico, the few words he said in English were: “I want to dedicate this award to all the people that had to leave their homeland, their country to follow their dreams.”
Bad Bunny Performs Small Piece of “DtMF”
Trevor Noah finally found a way to get Bad Bunny to perform a small piece of “DtMF,” which included a large live band. The Grammys host even sounded great singing a majority of the song in Spanish himself.
Bad Bunny Reminds the World That He’s a U.S. Citizen
Trevor Noah, the host of the Grammys, took a moment to sit down and chat with Bad Bunny during the show. Noah tried his best to coax Benito into performing during the broadcast, which he said he can’t do because he’s headlining the Super Bowl halftime show next week.
“If things keep getting worse in America, can I come live with you in Puerto Rico?” Noah asked Bad Bunny. The artist then playfully told Noah, “Trevor, I have some news for you, Puerto Rico is part of America.” The moment also served as a pointed reminder to viewers who still misunderstand his U.S. citizenship status.
Bad Bunny Reclaims The Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album
Bad Bunny just won his second Grammy of the night. Last year, he lost in the Best Música Urbana Album category for the first time to Residente’s Las Letras Ya No Importante LP.
Karol G and Marcello Hernández presented Bad Bunny with the Grammy. During his speech, he took a moment to call out ongoing ICE raids under President Donald Trump’s administration. “Before I say thanks to god, I’m going to say, ICE out,” Bad Bunny said. “We’re not savages. We’re not animals. We’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans.”
Bad Bunny Wins His First Grammy Outside of the Latin categories
During the Grammys Premiere Ceremony, two of the categories Bad Bunny was nominated in were announced. He was nominated in the inaugural Best Album Cover category for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, but Tyler, the Creator’s Chromakopia ended up taking the award. Bad Bunny did win for the first time in the Best Global Music Performance category for his reggaeton banger “EoO.” This also marked his first Grammy win outside of the Latin music categories.
Bad Bunny Shows up on Grammys Red Carpet
Right before the start of the Grammys, Bad Bunny stepped onto the red carpet while suited up in a Schiaparelli tuxedo. An executive producer for the awards previously confirmed that Benito will not perform due to headlining the Super Bowl halftime show next week. Bad Bunny is in attendance to see if he will win any of the four remaining categories that he’s nominated in, including Album of the Year.
