J Lo’s VMAs Performance Sparked a Twitter Roast of New York’s Subway

Twenty years into her career, J.Lo is adamant about proving she’s still Jenny from the Block. Lopez celebrated her win of the Video Vanguard award at this year’s MTV VMAs with a medley of her biggest hits. During her performance of the classics “Jenny from the Block” and “I’m Real,” she included a nod to her Bronx roots with a 6 train prop and bedazzled Timbs (To be sure, it’s been awhile since the Boricua star has lived in the Bronx, something that was perhaps most famously captured during an interview on The Daily Show last year, when she admitted that the last time she rode the subway, the fare was $1.75, proving that it was sometime in the late 90s).

Twitter was quick to crack a couple of jokes about J.Lo’s 6 train prop and the MTA’s reputation for running late all the time. Check out some of our favorites, and watch the full performance below:
