If you’ve been following Amara La Negra since before her glo up, you know her success has been a long time coming. The Dominican artist first caught our attention back in 2013 thanks to her viral hit “Ayy,” and since then, she’s landed a multi-album record deal with Fast Life Entertainment Worldwide and BMG and snagged a breakout role on Love & Hip-Hop: Miami, which brought conversations on Afro-Latinidad to new mainstream spaces.

Now, Amara is channeling her energy into a new project: a children’s book titled Amarita’s Way. On July 20, the Dominican star announced the project on Instagram and Twitter, writing, “I’m so excited to inform y’all that McBride Stories and I have formed a partnership on my first children’s book, titled Amarita’s Way, that contains three stories that are intended to motivate positivity, inspiration, and ambition in life.” According to local news outlet Fox 40, the book will be available in both English and Spanish for children aged 7 to 10. It is slated for release in August 2018 via Amazon and Barnes and Noble’s online store. McBride Stories, the publisher producing Amarita’s Way, is an independently run company focused on diversity in children’s literature, founded by entrepreneur Heddrick McBride.

Though the plot of the book has yet to be revealed, a press release states that Amara is pursuing the project to continue promoting “beauty in self-love, confidence, and the true bond between a mother and daughter,” which suggests the book could include some auto-biographical material. The press release includes another statement from Amara on the project. “This is only the beginning of what I hope to expand in our future leaders, philanthropist[s], and entertainers of our world. I want them to believe in their stride, their uniqueness and talents that the world will soon come to embrace,” she writes.

Remezcla has reached out to Amara La Negra’s reps and will update this post as soon as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for more details.
