The 2022 Spotify Wrapped results are here and it’s no surprise that Bad Bunny was revealed as the year’s most-streamed artist today (Nov. 30). Alongside the Puerto Rican superstar, multiple Latine artists like Rauw Alejandro, Karol G, and Daddy Yankee were among Spotify’s 50 most-streamed artists this past year.

For the third year in a row, Bad Bunny was crowned the most-streamed artist globally on Spotify. Thanks to the blockbuster success of his album Un Verano Sin Ti, he racked up over 18.5 billion streams on the music platform. Benito is also the first artist to reach that amount of streams in a single year. Un Verano Sin Ti was also Spotify’s most-streamed album of the year.

Among the 50 most-streamed acts globally, 10 Latine artists appeared on the list. Just outside the top 10, Rauw Alejandro appeared at No. 11. His recent album Saturno most likely gave him an extra push in these past few weeks. J Balvin, who has been mostly quiet on the music front in 2022, came at No. 19. Propelled by the final album of his career, Legendaddy, Daddy Yankee made it at No. 25. Feid, who has become a streaming juggernaut thanks to Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo Te Pirateamos El Álbum, made it at No. 48.

Also for the third year in a row, Karol G is the year’s most-streamed female Latine artist. She scored multiple global hits in 2022 with the feel-good “Provenza” and Latina breakup anthem “MAMIII” alongside Becky G. On the top 50 most-streamed acts globally list, she came in at No. 27. Among the most-streamed women in Latine music, Shakira, Rosalía, Camila Cabello, and Selena Gomez followed Karol G.

Spotify also revealed what genres Gen-Z listened to the most this past year. In the 18 to 24 group, the 50 most-streamed genres were Latin trap at No. 10, followed by reggaeton at No. 14. Reflecting Gen-Z’s musical takeover of música mexicana with Yahritza y Su Escencia, Eslabón Armado, and Ivan Cornejo, the genre came in at No. 31 on the list. Corridos also cracked the list at No. 46.
