Billie Eilish has enlisted a Latine act to open a few of her concerts in Mexico. On March 1, Mexican-American singer Omar Apollo revealed that he will join her Happier Than Ever World Tour later this month.
After launching in the U.S. last year, Eillish’s Happier Than Ever World Tour will be visiting Latin America. This month, her tour will stop in Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil, and Colombia. She will then kick off the Mexican leg of the tour with a visit to Mexico City on Mar. 29.
Omar will be joining Eilish for two of her four dates in Mexico. He will open up for her in Mexico City and Guadalajara on April 2. The “Tamagotchi” singer announced the news in a post on Twitter. “My family in Guadalajara already hitting me for tickets hahaha,” he wrote.
Last month, Omar joined SZA’s SOS Tour as her opening act in the U.S. Videos of his performances from the tour have gone viral on TikTok. SZA’s tour wraps up on Mar. 23 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, CA. After spending 10 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, SZA’s SOS album was pushed to No. 2 by Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito LP. Karol G made history as the first woman to reach the top of the chart with an all-Spanish album.
Last Friday, Omar appeared as a guest on Kali Uchis’ latest album Red Moon in Venus. He featured on the track “Worth The Wait.” It marked the third time the close friends have collaborated. Kali first appeared on Omar’s “Hey Boy” from his 2020 mixtape Apolonio. She later regrouped with him for “Bad Life” for his debut album Ivory.
Last year, Omar scored his first hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Evergreen (You Didn’t Deserve Me at All).” His album Ivory later helped him garner a Best New Artist nomination at this year’s Grammy Awards.
