Cardi B has been reaping the fruits of her hard work with another no. 1 hit and a series of high-profile live performances, but a new legal case might derail some of her upcoming plans. As TMZ reports, the Bronx-born rapper turned herself into New York police as a result of pending misdemeanor charges. The outlet reports that Cardi is accused of ordering members of her team to attack two bartenders by the names of Jade and Baddie G at Angels Strip Club in Queens. The assault allegedly took place on August 29 during a Migos performance at the venue, and was motivated by a suspicion that one of the bartenders slept with Cardi’s husband Offset.
TMZ claims Cardi had her associates attack the bartenders, and a brawl involving bottles and chairs ensued. Both women required medical attention following the incident.
The report also references another attack on one of the bartenders from August 15, when Cardi B allegedly sent five of her associates to the same club and physically assaulted Jade by “grabbing [her] hair, punching her, and hitting her with an ashtray.” The bartender claims that Cardi had threatened her and warned her about the attack ahead of time.
If this all sounds familiar, it’s probably because rapper Nicki Minaj referenced both attacks in her highly publicized feud with Cardi. After the pair had a physical altercation at a Harper’s Bazaar New York Fashion Week party, Minaj brought up both incidents on her popular Queen radio show on Apple Music’s Beats 1 station. “You getting girls beat up because of what your man’s doing?” she said. “This is not about Offset. There are women out here running hurt, running wild. There’s a reason why she’s doing these things.”
A spokesperson for the NYPD told Billboard that Cardi was charged with two misdemeanors: reckless endangerment and assault. She had her mugshot and fingerprints taken and received a court summons for October 29.
