For its eighth edition, Mexican festival Ceremonia is moving to Mexico City and it’s bringing an impressive mix of international and Latin American talent, pushing the musical envelope with its curation just like they’ve done since its creation. Taking place on April 25 at Campo Marte, Ceremonia 2020 will be headlined by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and his Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes project, techno veterans The Chemical Brothers and FKA twigs, presenting her sublime Magdalene show.
Leading the Latinx pack is reggaeton producer extraordinaire Tainy, and the list also includes Chilean-American urbano singer Paloma Mami, Argentine pop songstress Nicki Nicole, Indiana wunderkind Omar Apollo, Monterrey newcomers Kiddie Gang and Noah Pino Palo and cumbia DJ Ali Guagua, among many others. Spanish rappers Rels B and Kaydy Cain are also set to perform, and so are the Papi Juice residents, who most likely will be part of the Traición stage program, since they share their diverse queer vision.
In 2020, Ceremonia will also continue its sustainability efforts, this time working hand-in-hand with the U.N. to reinforce the organization’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and also with likeminded fashion brands like Sánchez Kane, Colmillo and Kids Of Immigrants to create festival merch. They’re also working with Greenpeace, Museo de Memoria y Tolerancia, Impulse, Contaminantes Anonymous and El Día Después to use the occasion to make a social impact.
