Demi Lovato is dealing with her break-up with former fiancé Max Ehrich the best way she knows how, through creating new music. Tuesday night (Sept. 29) the Latine pop star teased on Twitter that she’d be releasing surprise new music soon. She dropped the song just 10 hours later the following morning on Twitter. She captioned the Twitter post with the release of her new ballad “music is always there for me…”

Lovato had quickly wiped evidence of her relationship with Ehrich from her Instagram which used to be sprinkled with snapshots of the two looking very loved up. The duo reportedly ended things to focus on their respective careers. Lovato has certainly wasted no time getting back to her true love –the craft of music. We’re glad the artist can turn to music to cope while her heart is aching and grateful that she is gracious enough to share her talents with us during this difficult time.

The instrumental song is titled “Still Have Me” and features the 28-year-old songstress signature soul-baring empowering lyrics. The first verse is gut-wrenching, “I’m a mess and I’m still broken, but I’m finding my way back / And it feels like someone’s stolen all the light I ever had.”

It’s the kind of song we could all use when we’re feeling sad and lonely, as it reminds us to love ourselves first with empowering lyrics like “I don’t have much but least I still have me / And that’s all I need / So take my faith but ‘least I still believe / And that’s all I need / I don’t have much but least I still have me.”

Lovato hasn’t confirmed if the new anthem’s heart-felt lyrics are inspired by her recent split with Ehrich. One thing we know for sure is that the new tune embodies her resilience.
