For a limited time, Kanye “Ye” West had two of the biggest Latine music stars on his latest album. Last night (Aug. 8), the controversial rapper released a new song called “Drunk,” which initially featured Bad Bunny… but was then changed to Peso Pluma.
On Aug. 3, Ye released his collaborative album Vultures 2 with Ty Dolla $ign. They debuted as the duo ¥$ back in February with the Vultures 1 album. In order to drive sales for Vultures 2, West released four deluxe editions of the LP yesterday on his official website. One version of the album included the song “Drunk.” Ye originally teased the track with Bad Bunny’s voice on it back in December. “Drunk” was first released with features from Bad Bunny and Kodak Black.
With his recent albums, Ye is known for continuing to update and revise them after they drop. The deluxe editions of Vultures 2 were no exception. After initially featuring Bad Bunny on “Drunk,” West released another version of the song that replaced the Puerto Rican superstar with Peso Pluma. This marked the Mexican singer’s second time collaborating with West, following “Gimme A Second 2” with Rich The Kid and Ty Dolla $ign. The change to “Drunk” was made out of the blue, and there was no explanation for why Bad Bunny was removed.
The deluxe editions of Vultures 2 and “Drunk” were made available on Ye’s website until midnight. The Peso Pluma version of “Drunk” superseded the Bad Bunny version for the remainder of the song’s brief availability window.
Last night, Peso Pluma also released the highly anticipated track “Los Cuadros” with his cousin and frequent co-writer Tito Double P. He is currently performing concerts in arenas across the U.S. on his Éxodo Tour. Bad Bunny wrapped up his Most Wanted Tour in June with three concerts in Puerto Rico.
